Introducing - Canon Logic

Hailing from New York City and bringing what sounds like what would happen if the Killers and The Stokes met up in  a studio and decided to put a super-group together, Canon Logic are proving that they could very well take over where those bands left off.

Here is the video for the very catchy song  "Dead Man"  which is off of their 2010 debut, FM Arcade. Their latest ep, Rapid Empire, was released this summer.  You can now download a copy of the track for free here:  DEAD MAN

Cab 20 - Stomp

Hailing from the Southern California indie scene and fresh out of high school, the sound of Cab 20 comes off cleaner and more progressive than some of their elder peers.   Comparisons are being made to the likes of Queens of the Stone Age and the White Stripes, the latter being the one I agree with the most.

Without further ado, here is the video for "Stomp".

Trailer - The Raven

When a grisly murder of a mother and daughter seem to resemble a story that you read in a newspapers collection of short stories by a struggling writer named Edgar Allen Poe, who else do you go and question but the writer, himself? But, when more murders occur that resemble the scenes works by Poe, who else do you get to solve the mystery than the man himself? Thus is the basis for the upcoming movie, The Raven, which is due out in March 2012.

The film stars John Cusack as Poe and Luke Evans as Detective Emmett Fields. The Raven is directed by James McTeigue.

Consumed Links - October 7, 2011

Here we go with the almost weekly round-up of things that may have been missed around the web.

Let's start with this steamy couple. Apparently this "Chick" (age 71) and her drinking buddy (age 54) felt it was a good idea to hook-up in the back of the car where just about everyone who was hungry got a glimpse of the action. (smokinggun)

Recently there was an art show featuring the (maybe or maybe not) artwork of Fab 5 Freddy. Well, according to this article over at Revok1, Freddy should get ready to pay someone. (revok1)  -- What do you think?

There has been a significant amount of talk about indie labels and Spotify. At hypebot, Jay Frank, makes a pretty good argument of why some artists are just not getting paid what they expected. (hypebot)

Although I never heard of many of these, here are some stories about some famous elephants and their deaths. (listverse)  WARNING: Some of this stuff is animal cruelty at its ugliest and there are photos.

This is relatively old but, if anyone ever cared to listen to David Lee Roth singing acapella..... (WFMU)

How has SoundCloud revolutionized the music industry? Here's how...(fotorater)

And finally, for now....

At Billboard --- Why 2011 is the year that digital music broke. (billboard)

Something For Your Ears - Esza Kaye

Soft melodies fused with gothic electronic sounds set behind a soothing voice and honest lyrics. That would be how I would describe the music of Esza Kaye. Kaye's music has been compared to Dead Can Dance and Kate Bush. Check out the music below and also the music video for the title track off of her ep, Tinged With Machine, which is out now.
