Lincoln Logs were originally made of redwood. They were the invention of John Lloyd Wright, whose father was Frank Lloyd Wright (the famous architect). Wright claimed that the foundation of (his father's) Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, that he saw as it was being built, was the inspiration for the shape of the logs.
