Useless Fact Of The Week

National Hockey League regulation pucks are black, 3 in (7.6 cm) in diameter, 1 in (2.54 cm) thick, and weighing 5.5-6 oz (154-168 g). They are made of vulcanized rubber and are kept frozen before the game to reduce bouncing.

  1. since this cause such confusion for us before the Devils made it into the Playoffs this year, I will explain how the "points" system works so you can use this as a reference point in the future:

Only way for team to get 0 points is if they: lose in standard play time, meaning without forcing overtime.

If a team wins, they get 2 points. If a team wins in overtime or shootout, they get 2 points but the losing team will receive 1 point for forcing overtime.

    That is all.

Oh yeah, and apparently, when it comes to the standings, a teams record is secondary to the amount of points they have. I think.

    Peace
