since this cause such confusion for us before the Devils made it into the Playoffs this year, I will explain how the "points" system works so you can use this as a reference point in the future:
ReplyDeleteOnly way for team to get 0 points is if they: lose in standard play time, meaning without forcing overtime.
If a team wins, they get 2 points. If a team wins in overtime or shootout, they get 2 points but the losing team will receive 1 point for forcing overtime.
That is all.
Oh yeah, and apparently, when it comes to the standings, a teams record is secondary to the amount of points they have. I think.
