A 17-year-old female called police in Bismarck, North Dakota to report a crime. "I've never heard of such a thing happening, and neither had anyone here",said Lt. Randy Ziegler.
The girl called 911 on New Year's Eve to "report herself driving under the influence". Police found her in a parked car with her keys in her purse. She failed a sobriety test and had been arrested for failing to have control of her vehicle while intoxicated. She was not cited for drunk driving.
Lt. Ziegler said he thinks the call was a plea for help. "She told us her life was spiraling out of control...."
She has been released and returned to her parents.
