The Music We Love Part 1

 
As we continue on with looking back at the year I thought I we should take a look and listen at all the great music that was shared. 


In January I told you about an absolutely fantastic compilation featuring 83 tracks of smashing industrial. What made this even sweeter? It is for a great cause. Some of you were also introduced to the sounds of Film Noir World. From the original post: 
'Film Noir World is a one man production from Nottingham, England. His music is reminicent of old school beautiful soundtracks. First up is a track from his newest release (out now!) titled, "Dark Earth." The second is from his first release, "It's Here."  One could never know what you are going to get when you see referenced influences such as Tim Burton, Massive Attack, Portishead, Moloko, and Danny Elfman.  This is definitely an artist to be on the watch for.'

Another great artist, Ya Za, was introduced to all of you. From the original post:
'Ilyasin Zarifa, aka "Ya Za", is an artist who grew up in Nashville, TN. She describes her sound as "well-rounded," with influences such as; Prince, Pat Benatar, Stevie Wonder, and Annie Lennox, as well as many others.'

Something For Your Ears - Shadows Fall

The band Shadows Fall formed back in 1995. While this normally would be the type of post for a "newer" artist, however, I felt that I would take the time to introduce or reintroduce the band to you, the readers, for those who are open minded and always looking for new bands to get into.  The band is currently on tour for the Rockstar Energy Drink "Mayhem Fest." I highly recommend checking them out. The put on an awesome show.

DJ Kicks: Flying Lotus? Burial? On The Way

Producer Flying Lotus is on tap to mix an edition of the very successful 'DJ Kicks' series. Also, it is rumored that there will also be a mix from, UK producer, Burial. There is no firm release date for either at this time.

Burial has been receiving praise for his debut album 'Burial' released in 2006 and his second 'Untrue' released in 2007. He recently was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize.

Flying Lotus has been receiving acclaim for his second full album 'Los Angeles'(warp records,2008).
His first album '1983' and follow-up ep 'Reset EP' were released in 2006 and 2007 respectively.
