A License To Sing At Work????

Imagine this: You are at work listening to the radio. Your boss gets notified that if you have a radio playing that it cannot be within earshot of the customers of the store. The boss takes away the radio. You are now working in silence. So you sing to yourself to make yourself happy. You get a notice that you cannot sing at work without a performance license. You are also informed that if you continue you will be fined a hefty amount.

The BBC recently posted the story of 56-year-old Sandra Burt, a shop assistant. Please click the link to read the story and let me know what you think. What if this was over here in America?

I’m glad they apologized but still…. it should have never been.

The Fourth Kind - Trailer

In the 1960's there were an increasing amount of Alaska's population was being reported as missing every year. In 1972 a scale of measurement had been made for alien encounters. The first kind is a UFO sighting, the second kind being when evidence is collected. When contact has been made with extraterrestrials, it is the third kind. As for the fourth....

We are brought to modern-day Alaska where, despite multiple FBI investigations, the truth has yet to be discovered. In Nome, Alaska psychologist Abigail Tyler begins videotaping her traumatized patients and soon discovers some of the most horrifying evidence of alien abduction (the fourth kind).

The film stars Milla Jovovich, Will Patton, and Elias Koteas.

The movie is set for release on November 6th.

Video: Breeze Brewin - P.P.T. (Pessimistic Personal Trainer)

Finally, a new single from the legendary, underground icon, Breeze Brewin (of Juggaknots fame).
Yet another conceptual track, which he just can't seem to go wrong with, ever.
This time the Brewin takes a stab at the "Beck - Loser" concept. Maybe even doing a little sampling or "interpolating" of said track and video. The maxi-single, "The Application", drops October 18th.

Check the video here-

If the you aren't familiar with prior Brewin efforts, let's take a quick look at a couple of other
great things he's done:

After being signed to a fruitless deal with Elektra from 1993 to around 1995, 96, The Juggaknots
(Breeze, his brother Buddy Slim, and sister Queen Heroine),bounced to Bobbito Garcia's Fondle 'Em Records.
On Fondle 'Em, they released the indisputably classic "Clear Blue Skies" EP.
The title cut was well recieved and remains one of the most original takes on racism ever.
Check it-

In 1998 or 99, I forget which, he collaborated with Prince Paul to drop arguably one of the greatest
concept albums in hip hop, "Prince Among Thieves".

I can't even begin to list the legendary names that worked on this album.
Check out the fake movie trailer they did for this-

Moving on along to 2001, again taking a look at not only racism, but also the annoyance of holiday
shopping for kids, The Juggaknots talk about the racial ideas behind the show "Dukes Of Hazard"
with "Generally".
Peep it-

Well, I could probably go on for another page or two about how great The Juggaknots are,
but I'll just leave you with this. Here's their video "Namesake" off of their 2006 album
"Use Your Confusion". This song basically tell's some of their story-

It was then re released in 2002 with 11 bonus cuts, mostly older demos that are pretty great.
Cop that here or wherever else you can find it.
Check them out on myspace here.

Support The Juggaknots.

Happy Anniversary - Part One

Before I start I just wanted to say thanks to all you who have been reading. It means a lot.

I could not decide exactly what I wanted to do with my anniversary post. I could have spent the time thanking individual people, I could have just reposted a few things, or done nothing. Instead... let's take a trip down memory lane.

These are just a few posts I picked but if you would like to check out that whole month just click the month (link). This will be an all week series... enjoy!

October 2008 - Did you know that women blink nearly twice as much as men? That fact was the post that started it all.... 10/12/2008

I still haven't figured out why he did this: John Lydon and Butter?

A man in Florida paid for his food with marijuana... (Well At Least He Paid With Something Green)

A Postal worker stole some panties... (The Postman Stole Your Undies?)

A Swiss musician says he must give the large tattoo on his back to a German man who paid him to become a living, breathing picture frame upon his death. (A Living Art Frame?)

A good reason why not to drive with cats on your lap.... (Colorado Car Crash Caused By Catfight)

Do You Think They Ate The Evidence? -- if you claimed that a whole bunch of soiled diapers at the border... I can see being searched too.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this as much as I am enjoying putting this together.... on to part two.

Marlon Wayans = Richard Pryor??? Huh?

It is being reported that Eddie Murphy is no longer to play Richard Pryor in the biopic "Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?"

Earlier this year I had posted that Murphy had been chosen for the part and that he even waived his multi-million dollar salary to be in the film. (consumed3/3/09)

Now the latest news is that he has been replaced by Marlon Wayans. (That's right.... Marlon Wayans folks....)

The replacement is reportedly due to Wayans rising box office status and Murphy's steady decline. The movie has also changed studios as it was with Paramount when Murphy was linked. It is now with Sony.

The question now is....Can Marlon Wayans pull this off? We just will have to wait and see. We might be surprised.

Check My Brain -- Alice In Chains

Here is the first single off of the new Alice In Chains album, Black Gives Way To Blue. It is the first album since the death of lead singer Layne Staley.* I must admit that when I heard about this I wasn't sure how it would work. When I finally heard this track I was impressed. The album is available now so do check it out. You can get more information on the artist site. (AIC)

*note -- Staley passed in 2002. The last studio album was Alice In Chains in 1995. There have been a few greatest hits type packages as well as the Unplugged (MTV) album in 1996 and a live album in 2000.

S.A.S.- The Ceiling

There are plenty of times I pass by some video or another and say to myself that perhaps I will look at it later. I think I have a pretty fair sense of knowing if I will like something or not in a matter of seconds. I will admit. I almost passed on this one. I was pretty surprised to find that this wasn't all too bad. The beat is a little weak but it is listenable. The rhyming is pretty well done...
Anyhow, check it out and let me know what you think.

Death Bell - Trailer

This is a lovely story about students taking their final exam and passing and becoming law students.... WAIT!!! No it isn't....

Imagine this... you are in high school and taking a test. Then suddenly chaos ensues. The tv screen shows one of the school's most popular in a horrible situation. A voice tells you it is time for a new test. A test where every wrong answer means someone must die.

This movie came out a year ago. But I have only heard of it now....

Warning: this is pretty violent. Not recommended for the weak-hearted.
