Useless Fact Of The Week

British music magazine, Q, was originally to be named Cue. It was changed so that it would not be confused as snooker (billiards) magazine and also it was thought that the single -letter title would be more prominent on newsstands.

Now that DMX has been released... how long until he is back in jail? Will someone step in to try to keep the man out of trouble?

How can a Dunkin' Donuts have no donuts? If you don't close for another 2 hours...why don't you have at least one type of donut on the shelf to offer?

Why do all the guys on some of the last few covers of AP look like 12 year old girls?

No More Booty Ads

The Source has announced that it shall no longer run ads for adult web sites, escort services, and pornographic movies.

The hip-hop magazine is banning "booty ads" featuring scantily-clad women from its pages and website.

Co-publisher L. Londell McMillan said that the magazine should be able to appeal to core hip-hop fans and still be a magazine that "you wouldn't mind your kids seeing."

U.K. Music Backs Government Proposal

Billboard is reporting that U.K. Music, a recently formed umbrella organization combining the major British music industry groups, has announced its support for a co-regulatory system between ISPs, the music industry, and a government appointed body to ensure ISPs tackle illegal P2P file-sharing.

Useless Fact Of The Week

The Wu-Tang Clan holds the record for the longest time spent on Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop chart top 25 by a group at 48 weeks.

A Letter From Prodigy

URB magazine has been corresponding with Prodigy lately and have decided to post one of his letters. The reactions to the letter have thus far been really mixed. I won't say that I agree or disagree with his views but I will say....at least he made his point clear as possible.

This is guaranteed to make you think and discuss afterwards: A Letter From Prodigy

Useless Fact Of The Week

Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" holds the longest time spent on Billboard charts by a single album record with 591 consecutive weeks (about 11 years), 1,611 (about 31 years) total. It was on the Best Seller list for 741 (about 14 years).

The Plymouth Two

In a club setting...no matter what ways the owners, promoters, etc take to crack down....the drugs and the dealers will find a way to get through. Should these guys be in jail???

Please read the very imformative MixMag article and you decide.

From the site:
DJ, promoter and father Tom Costelloe has been sentenced to five years in jail. His crime? Operating a club where people were taking drugs. Even the judge admitted that Tom was not involved in drug dealing in any way....

In A Hot Minute.........

It is that time of year where all of the hip-hop (good, bad , and downright ugly) all need to be released for the wonderful 4th quarter....and many of us music fans get disappointed by what we ended up with....

With that in mind here is what has been up in the hip-hop realm.....things moving quickly....

In the recent issue of Wax Poetics magazine, MF Doom is questioned about the rumors of "imposter perfomances". "I did some show, wrecked it, girls climbing up onstage and shit," says Doom."That was the first time that happened--but we was rocking, right? Somebody from the label was going to be there. I was like, 'Cool, he saw the show, and it was wrecked.'" Continuing he states, "Next couple of days, I speak to him, and he was like, 'Good show, but a lot of people are saying it wasn't you!'"

For the rest of the interview check out the current issue of Wax Poetics....

The reunion album for EPMD titled 'We Mean Business' now has a release date of December 9th. Guests mentioned are: Redman, Havoc (Mobb Deep), Raekwon, KRS-One, and 9th Wonder.

While some of us are just waiting for that new Common album to come and go....(originally titled Invincible Summer now called Universal Mind Control -out early Dec.)
Common is saying that 'The Believer' will be the next album....this was the album he started to make and then ....

DJ Babu's Duck Season Volume 3 will be in stores Oct. 28 via Nature Sounds.

“From the jump, my point was to put the spotlight on artists and songs that I felt needed more exposure,” Babu explains (interview here with HipHopDX) “It’s like a full evolution. Everything I’ve done solo and with my other groups has led up to this point. On this one I produced, and mixed everything.” Don't forget to check out the track "The Unexpected" (w/ MF DOOM and Sean Price).

That's all I can take for now.....more to come.

Lyricist of the Year?

Really BET? Are you sure? I can and cannot believe that BET awarded Lil Wayne the lyricist of the year at this years Hip-Hop awards. It could have been worse though...they could have chosen Souljah Boy...but come on Lil Wayne? Really?
The New Orleans rapper, who had 12 nominations, was named MVP of the Year as well.

I would love to see what the guys over at the T.R.O.Y. blog would make lyricist of the year...

This is just another sad reason why BET is no longer worth watching....well, except for the American Gangster docs.

Oh yeah....and did you know the readers of Vibe magazine voted Eminem the best rapper alive? check out the audio link below...
really vibe readers....really?
