Sit Back, Relax, And Just Read A Little Something

It is a holiday weekend.... so, it's time to catch up on some of the things we may have missed....

Hype Machine Outs Artists For Chart Manipulation - (hypebot) -- "We found several artists and blogs creating fake accounts on the site and favoriting their tracks to get higher visibility in the charts." (pretty pathetic if you ask me)

Recording Labels Sue Online Music Services - (tulsaworld) ---
Microsoft Corp., Yahoo Inc. and RealNetworks Inc. have been sued by music labels that allege the companies made recordings available without getting permission. (didn't this already happen?)

Sorry, this is a short post.... but like I said, it is a holiday weekend... now go out and have some fun!

MP3tunes vs EMI part 2

A short while ago I posted a small story on the battle between Mp3tunes and EMI (story here in case you missed it).

Recently
Michael Robertson
, CEO of Mp3tunes sent out an open letter to Doug Merrill, EMI's President of Digital Strategy.

In the letter, Robertson asks Merrill to re-examine EMI's actions regarding its strategy, motives, and rethink suing his company.

With all of the free music EMI themselves put out....will Doug respond?

Mezzanine De L’Alcazar Volume 6 on Defected

Mezzanine De L’Alcazar is known as a destination restaurant in Paris. It is known as a multi-sensory experience with its cuisine, its' art exhibitions, and its choice of delicate disco and luscious soulful house music in the background.

I was quite surprised at what I was hearing with this release. With its downtempo, soulful mix it truly is what (they) say it is...."This delicate collection of specially selected tracks has been designed to stimulate the senses whilst dining and then later after your espresso, it sets the mood with sophisticated music to dance to."

I might have to check out Vol 1-5 as well.

Kaskade: The Om Remixes Out Now!

From beginning to end the latest from Kaskade, the om remixes, is beautifully done. It starts off with (a feel any "true house person" would appreciate) an extended mix of Colette's "Feelin' Hypnotized". As it moves through the pace remains intact and gives a sense of a rush.....and towards the end quick as it heats up...it cools you down with slower tracks like the closing song "Steppin' Out" by Kaskade himself....too bad it is only 12 tracks...

This is definitely a must have for any Kaskade fan, for any House fan, and for the Omies!

Tracklisting:

  1. Colette - Feelin' Hypnotized (Kaskade Extended Mix)
  2. J-Boogie's Dubtronic Science - Rainfall (Kaskade Remix)
  3. Mark Farina - To Do (Kaskade Carry On Mix)
  4. Afro-Mystik - Natural (Kaskade Roots Remix)
  5. Rithma - Love And Music (Kaskade Remix)
  6. Naked Music NYC - If I Fall (Kaskade Soulshower Mix)
  7. Colette - I Didn't Mean To Turn You On (Kaskade Extended Mix)
  8. Mark Farina - Cali Spaces (Kaskade Remix)
  9. Colette - What Will She Do For Love (Kaskade Big Room Mix)
  10. King Kooba - If I Could (Kaskade More Pop Mix)
  11. Rithma - Builder (Kaskade Let's Make Out Mix)
  12. Kaskade - Steppin' Out (Kaskade Chill Out Mix)

You can get the cd/or download it here: kaskade (get a free track too!)

Ultra 2009 Out Now.....

The latest in Ultra Records annual series, Ultra 2009, features some of the "hottest dance hits and remixes from some of the biggest DJs and Producers" from this year.

Mixed by The Riddler and Cato K, the album features tracks/treatments by September, David Guetta, Armin Van Buuren, Basshunter, Kaskade, Deadmau5, Cascada, and many more.

While there are some big names on there....I have to ask...while, I do buy the occasional mix from Ultra....how many of the songs are going to be on the next mix? What I mean is...how many of these mixes will have the same exact songs on them? Can they promise me that this mix or the remixes are more exclusive? Now that would make me buy it today....rather than waiting a little bit. Then again....Deadmau5 is on there....and he is one of my favorites right now....I am going to get his album.

For more information and to buy the 2009 mix go to Ultra Records.
