Chris Benoit Biopic Being Planned

SRG Films recently announced that they will be adapting the book, "Ring of Hell: The Story of Chris Benoit and the Fall of the Pro Wrestling Industry," by Matthew Randazzo into a biopic titled Crossface.

Here is an excerpt from the press release:

"Crossface", a biographical thriller, delves into the pressures WWE superstar Chris Benoit faced throughout his wrestling career as the combination of drug-use, depression, and head trauma became increasingly impossible for him to handle. The true story made headline news in 2007 when Chris murdered his wife and young son before taking his own life.

SRG is currently in talks with directors and actors and hope to start production in 2012.

Sacha Baron Cohen To Star In Upcoming Biopic

Bookmark and Share

Borat as Mercury? It appears so. Sacha Baron Cohen has been named as the man who will play Freddie Mercury in an upcoming biopic. For more on this story click the link below.

When I saw this news I couldn't help but wonder how they chose him of all people to play Mercury. The only thing I can think of is that now is the time for a serious role for Baron Cohen and well, they can probably find ways to make him look like the Queen singer.

Aside from that, I also wondered how they can possibly do this biopic and not include at least a touch of Mercury's final years. I also couldn't help but notice all of the the new slew of musical biopics that are set to come out. Is this going to be the trend for now?

Marlon Wayans = Richard Pryor??? Huh?

It is being reported that Eddie Murphy is no longer to play Richard Pryor in the biopic "Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?"

Earlier this year I had posted that Murphy had been chosen for the part and that he even waived his multi-million dollar salary to be in the film. (consumed3/3/09)

Now the latest news is that he has been replaced by Marlon Wayans. (That's right.... Marlon Wayans folks....)

The replacement is reportedly due to Wayans rising box office status and Murphy's steady decline. The movie has also changed studios as it was with Paramount when Murphy was linked. It is now with Sony.

The question now is....Can Marlon Wayans pull this off? We just will have to wait and see. We might be surprised.
