Consumed Links - September 23, 2011

It has been pretty busy for me and most likely for many of you. So, it can be hard to catch up on all the things going on . Without further ado, here are this weeks links.

As many have celebrated the 20 year anniversary of Nirvana's album, 'Nevermind', URB magazine recently listed five other classic albums that should be celebrated. (5classicalbums)

Poor Joel Tenenbaum. First he was ordered to pay the RIAA $675,000. Then, it was slashed to $67,500. Now, it has gone back up. (CMU)

Imagine being banned from the internet because of a single infringement accusation... Italy is trying to make this happen. (TechDirt)

Most times Consumed Links cannot be complete without a good list. Mental_floss has a interesting list featuring some very strange sea creatures. (8strange)

Wait a minute... There was a missing baby and the cops would not help the mother? (Wendyista)

And finally, for now...

Rob Flynn from Machine Head teamed up with Metalinjection to discuss the forthcoming album, "Into The Locust", which is due out September 27th.

Puscifer - Man Overboard

Puscifer has returned with a CGI video for their first single off of the forthcoming album, Conditions Of My Parole. The video for "Man Overboard" was created by Mats Meier.

"Man Overboard" is available now. Conditions Of My Parole is set for release October 18th via Puscifer Entertainment. Maynard James Keenan, the project ringleader and also the lead singer of both Tool and A Perfect Circle (for those that I would be surprised didn't know), has been quoted as describing the album as a equal parts Twilight Zone, Mayberry, and Road Warrior. Check out the cover art below.

For more check out: Puscifer
"Man Overboard" is available here or on iTunes.

Introducing... Vicky

Vicky is a melodic pop-punk band from Iceland. They have grown quite a following as they have been leaving quite an impression with their live shows.  I have not had the pleasure of seeing Vicky live but the reviews are loud and clear... this is a band to check out.

From Cyberpr:

If the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Björk and Queens of the Stone Age were pregnant after a dramatic love triangle, Vicky would be their offspring, and no one knows who the father is

One can definitely hear some inspiration from the above mentioned bands. Check out the video below for the first single off of their second album , Cast A Light,  titled, "Feel Good".

Painstyle

Painstyle formed between 2005 and 2006 by Christian Heil. With his vision and catalog of song structures he set out to find the perfect formation of the band. In 2008, with this found formation,  the band put together a demo (Rough Demo 2008). Shortly thereafter the bands drummer had to leave and so began the quest for a new piece of the puzzle. The songs below are with the original drummer. With their new drummer they have gone on to create their first full album, the upcoming, In Black Despair.

From their myspace page: 'Gravitation by sounds, malicious, gloomy, funereal, lugubrious and tormenting like grown out of the depths of Dantes Inferno.
A pulsating and seething wall of sound, gnawing and pounding like a toothache. Merciless riff-attacks, winding like snakes and diving ever-recurring into new rhythmic universes to melt together with.
During the first bars you get the impression as if hell opened up in front of you and you're standing right within the apocalypse.
Painstyle is a progressive, neo-urban death metal nightmare on the other side of the pain barrier!!!'

Without further ado...
