How To Destroy Angels Sign With Columbia - EP And LP In The Future

How To Destroy Angels has signed with Columbia Records. The band consists of Trent Reznor, Mariqueen Maandig Reznor, Atticus Rose, and Rob Sheridan. They will be releasing and ep titled An Omen in November. Here is the news from Mr. Reznor himself:

'Sorry for the radio silence lately…I’ve been busy! There’s a number of things to be revealed over the coming months. Some you may expect, others you may not. Patience, my friends.
Today’s news is about my band How To Destroy Angels. I’m happy to announce we’ve formally partnered with Columbia Records for our next series of releases. The first of these will be available in November and it’s called An Omen EP. As you may have guessed, it’s an EP. It contains six songs, some of which are from our full-length LP which is coming early next year.
We are making some videos, we are going to be performing live, and that’s all the details I have for now on those matters.
Regarding our decision to sign with Columbia, we’ve really spent a long time thinking about things and it makes sense for a lot of reasons, including a chance to work with our old friend Mark Williams. There’s a much more granular and rambling answer I could give (and likely will in an interview someplace) but it really comes down to us experimenting and trying new things to see what best serves our needs. Complete independent releasing has its great points but also comes with shortcomings.
We are all very excited about you checking out the new stuff. Wish I could tell you more, but you know how this works… it would take all the fun out of it!
Stay tuned! '

Here's a track from their debut self-titled ep that is out now. Enjoy!

The Music We Love Part 3

Bookmark and Share

I hope you are all enjoying my review of the "Consumed" year. Let us now continue taking a look at some music that was shared.

May -

The Dead Weather came out with a video for their newest single, "Die By The Drop". It is off of their latest album 'Sea of Cowards'. Since that post the video is no longer able to be embedded but you can check it out here

It seems that there were quite a few of us that were excited to see the newest project by Trent Reznor unfold. This has to be one of my favorite videos of the year.

How To Destroy Angels - "The Space in Between"

That month also featured a flashback of Coldcut ft Roots Manuva - "True Skool". (here)  as well as asked a question of who used a sample the best-- Euphoreal vs The Prodigy.

June -

Sevendust brought us a new video for their single "Unraveling" off of their album Cold Day Memory.

Sevendust - Unraveling [Music Video] from Frederico Marques on Vimeo.

We checked out the sound of Kelli Renee and her song "Addicted".

I shared my love of the the track "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" by High Contrast. (Flashback)

Some of us also were dancing along to the video by Armin van Buuren as well as this track by YUG.

I also introduced some of you to the sound of CeCe Segarra with her track "Like Me".

Stay tuned for Part 4.

Congrats In Order

With so many things going on lately...I almost forgot....sorry.

First I would like to say congratulations to Trent Reznor for the special achievement Webby Artist of The Year Award. From the Webbys :

The Webby Awards is thrilled to honor Trent Reznor with the Webby Artist of the Year Award in recognition of his album, The Slip, which debuted for free download in May 2008 on his website. By making his music available to fans for free, Trent Reznor embraced the true openness of the Internet, similar to the release of the album Year Zero, which launched with an award-winning alternate reality game. Trent Reznor's ability to connect with fans far and wide through the Web makes him a qualified ambassador of online culture, and arguably one of the most-recognized artists harnessing the power of the Internet to spread music.

Also, congratulations to:

Chris Cornell And Trent Reznor

"You know that feeling you get when somebody embarrasses themselves so badly YOU feel uncomfortable? Heard Chris Cornell's record? Jesus." -- Trent Reznor (twitter)

Recently former Soundgarden/Audioslave singer Chris Cornell spoke to The Washington Post
where he spoke about his new album, Scream -"I think it's pretty obvious. I did the math as soon as I made the decision to make that record.", the critics, Trent Reznor,- .."That's kind of childish. To be honest, if I wanted to go out to blast records that I hate, I would be sitting on Twitter 24 hours a day blasting 96 percent of what comes out -- maybe 98 percent of what comes out. (Laughs.) There's a lot of music that I don't like.", working with Timbaland, and Soundgarden.

It is unclear to me when exactly this interview occurred. However it does seem that there was some bitterness in it.

I am all for artists to continue to recreate themselves. I was willing to give the album a listen and give a little review here on the blog. I couldn't. I could not sit through the album. It made me uncomfortable.

I will leave this to all of you to decide.

In what looks like the final say in this matter......

We will always have Trent's April Fool's Day joke.
